A Conversation on the Intersection of Research and Entrepreneurship
Please join us for an exploratory interview with Dr. Michele Marcolongo, our new Drosdick Endowed Dean of Villanova's College of Engineering. Dean Michele Marcolongo arrived at Villanova University in late July, after having spent more than 20 years at Drexel University in roles spanning Department Chair, Vice-Provost of Translational Research, and Assistant Dean for Intellectual Property. Dean Marcolongo is a recognized expert in university-based startups. She has co-founded three medical startup companies, authored over 15 patent applications, and most recently published the book "Academic Entrepreneurship: How to Bring Your Scientific Product to Commercial Discovery." The interview will be conducted by Dr. Lauri Olivier, our new Director of Engineering Entrepreneurship, and a global expert in technology startup.

Rebecca Mercuri, Ph.D. is the founder and lead digital forensic investigator at Notable Software, Inc. Her 30+ years of advocacy and writings on transparency and trust in computational systems include coining the phrase "voter verified paper ballot." Dr. Mercuri's talk -- Building Resilience into Cybersecurity -- will provide insights into methodologies needed for the mitigation of electronic vulnerabilities to foreign and domestic infrastructure exploits and attacks.

You don’t have to be a technologist to work in a tech-adjacent field. Juliet Beauchamp is the host and producer of IDG’s enterprise tech video series, Today in Tech. As a young professional, she covers trending tech topics including 5G, cybersecurity and privacy, AI/ML and collaboration. Juliet will explain how her background in journalism allowed her to break into the tech space, her career and how women aspiring to tech-related roles don’t always need to be trained technologists.
